Empathy Driven
Improvisation
Empathology is a project & community centering fully improvised musical empathy
Every show features new ensembles creating music from the empathy of the moment
The musicians on-stage take what’s alive in ourselves, in the audience, in the room, and pour it into what we play
The result is new, fresh music at every show, that’s unique to that group of musicians, that audience, that room
Led By Bassist
Andraleia Buch
A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Andraleia has spent her musical career focusing-in on developing the concept of Musical Empathy
After years touring as JD Simo’s bassist, and performances with The Allman Betts Band, Umphrey’s McGee, Mumford & Sons, and more, she founded Empathology as her own unique project
She aims to pour her queer identity, intentional empathy, and well-studied musicianship into this unique concept
Evergrowing
Musical Community
As of September 2024, Empathology has featured over two-hundred musicians joining Andraleia on stage, and that number is ever-growing
New musical connections are formed at every show; full bands commonly formed from players meeting at Empathology sessions
It is a unique platform for empathetic musical connection, for audience and musicians alike
